No. The island bus runs from Pigadia to the villages and beaches a few times a day in summer, but it does not call at the airport. Taxis, hire cars and hotel transfers are the options.

By taxi for about €90, two hours on the mountain road, or by hire car. In summer there is also a boat from Pigadia to Diafani with a bus up to the village.

Olympic flies the seven-minute hop from Karpathos Airport several times a week, and the ferry from Pigadia takes about an hour. Kasos has its own tiny airport near Fry.

In the car park in front of the terminal, from about €2 an hour or €8 a day, first 15 minutes free. It fills only on peak August days.

Mainly Karpathian companies with desks at the terminal, several acting as agents for Avis, Hertz or Sixt, plus Pigadia agencies that deliver to arrivals. Book well ahead for July and August.

Not for the main road, Pigadia, the southern resorts or Olympos, which are all paved. For Apella, Kyra Panagia and some west-coast beaches the last stretch is dirt, and a small SUV is more comfortable; check that the contract covers unpaved roads.
