Kavala Airport: frequently asked questions

Two hours for the summer charters and non-Schengen (UK) flights, ninety minutes for the domestic Athens flights. Allow for the Thassos ferry and the 15-minute drive from Keramoti on top.

Taxi or transfer 12 km to Keramoti (about €25, 15 minutes), then the car ferry to Limenas, 40 minutes, roughly hourly in summer. Package coaches go straight to the quay; a hire car can cross with the company’s permission.

About 30 km east of the city along the Egnatia motorway: 30–35 minutes and roughly €45 by taxi. KTEL buses are few and timed to the Athens flights.

Only a few KTEL Kavalas runs to Kavala (about €4) timed to some flights, and nothing to Keramoti. Plan on a taxi, transfer or hire car.

About €45 to Xanthi (40 minutes on the motorway) and €60 to Drama (about an hour) by day; more after midnight.

In the open-air car park beside the terminal, from about €3 an hour or €10 a day, first 10 minutes free. It fills around Easter, August and Christmas.

Usually yes, with the company’s permission written into the contract; most Kavala and Thassos firms grant it routinely. The Keramoti ferry takes cars and crosses in 40 minutes.

Avis, Budget, Hertz, Sixt and Europcar have desks in the terminal, alongside Kavala and Thassos companies that also deliver at Keramoti. The cars are parked beside the terminal.
